Longworth on the hunt for new sales executive

Due to recent growth and exciting new opportunities, we’re looking to grow our Blackburn-based team with an experienced sales executive.

Job Purpose

Responsibility for winning orders and generating sales for the business. Sales executive to work closely with colleagues to shape the marketing, publicity and strategic business development activities of the ‘process cleaning’ and ‘equipment’ divisions of the business, both in the UK and internationally.

 

Working Relationships

Internal:                        chairman, directors, marketing and fellow employees.

External:                       clients (UK and overseas), sales agents and distribution representatives.

 

Principal Accountabilities (Major end results the job is expected to achieve)

  1. Assisting the chairman and directors in setting order targets and sales budgets, and subsequent achievement of agreed targets. Visiting customers – initially in UK and later overseas – to enhance existing key accounts and develop new accounts, and thereby grow the orders and profitable sales of the company. Attendance at industry events and exhibitions as necessary.
  2. Working as an integral member of a small but high-performing team to support the chairman and directors in developing customer service levels, delivery performance, marketing and PR, including website, technical publications, editorials, advertising and information/literature.
  3. Contribute as part of the key team to strategy planning, ROI/investment decisions, business risk management, customer support and relevant legislative compliances.
  4. Sourcing, provision and use of reliable market data and financial information, for use in the implementation of well-targeted business development activities.
  5. Activity analysis and regular formal reporting to the B&M board.

 

Standard Profile (Knowledge and experience, desired behaviours)

  • Qualified in a business or technical discipline to degree / higher BTEC level.
  • Experienced in direct / front line sales within a process engineering / chemicals environment.
  • Good technical foundation and aptitude.
  • Good understanding of marketing principles (conventional and ‘digital’) and PR activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, orally and in writing.
  • English as a first language, and a second European language would be a distinct advantage.
  • Comfortable in handling changing priorities and challenging timescales.
  • Experienced in manufacturing and/or service provision where marketing and PR add tangible value to the business.
  • Strongly committed to the business with a clear sense of loyalty and initiative.
  • IT literate, with experience of commonly used tools such as Microsoft Office. Experience and understanding of WordPress and social media would be an advantage.
  • Ability to influence and communicate well with a wide range of talented, motivated colleagues, staff and specialists.
  • Excellent personal presentation and standards of hygiene.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Authorised to work full-time in the United Kingdom.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Able to travel in UK and overseas, as required.

 

Outline of package

  • £25-£30k basic salary + bonus based upon agreed OTE
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Car allowance
