Our many R&D projects require a dedicated engineer to oversee activities.
Would suit a Process Engineer or Materials Scientist, ideally at MSc level and with a keen interest in sustainability. Based here in Blackburn, Lancashire and helping us to apply our DEECOM® recycling technology to plastics, polymers and composites.
Role: Longworth have patented the DEECOM® process which enables the low carbon reduction, separation and reclamation of plastics and composite waste materials using high temperature, pressured steam. Our mission: to have DEECOM® recognised as a viable global waste solution and alternative to landfill, incineration and carbon-intensive recycling methods. See www.deecomlite.com
Environmentalists at heart and innovators by nature; Longworth require an in-house chemical engineer to oversee progress on a number of ongoing R&D projects and innovations and to enrich our relationships with partners in the academic, RTO and private sectors. Current industry projects are with carbon fibre, fibre glass, packaging, nappies, textiles, carpet and NHS single use plastics; for industries ranging from aerospace, automotive, energy, marine, fashion, medical, and pharmaceutical.
This varied and exciting role offers a real mix of chemistry and engineering; you’ll need strong knowledge of chemical formulae and behaviour, along with lab equipment and analysis methods along with affinity for machinery, tools and ‘making things work’.
Additionally, the engineer will support Longworth by researching and presenting various manufacturing methods and feedstocks, understanding and improving LCA and constantly striving to achieve net zero; all while growing our R&D capability, team and opportunities.
